BROMPTON JAPAN K.K. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), the UK-based, London-born folding bicycle company, is set to launch the T Line Urban for the first time in Japan on 1 September.
BROMPTON is a brand that has been loved all over the world for 47 years since the first one was produced in 1975. Now, the lightest-weight line in BROMPTON history, the all-titanium ‘T Line’, will finally be available in Japan.
The reasons why BROMPTON continues to be loved around the world are.
(1) Bicycle that folds up in about 20 seconds
The BROMPTON is a unique folding bike, invented by founder Andrew Richie in 1975, which remains virtually unchanged to this day. The bike is a folding bike like no other.
2) MADE IN LONDON
Each BROMPTON folding bike is carefully hand-built by craftsmen at the company’s factory in London, UK, to ensure quality. The frames are joined together using a technique called brazing. Every step of the process, including brazing and painting, is done by hand by skilled craftsmen, and no two BROMPTONs are the same.
(iii) Lifestyle-changing bicycles.
BROMPTON bicycles fold up small so they can be carried on commuter trains, cars, planes and taxis, allowing you to expand your range of activities and go anywhere on the planet with your BROMPTON, expanding your existing lifestyle and range of activities. The BROMPTON is the perfect way to expand your lifestyle and range of activities.
Features of the T Line.
The bike weighs a mere 7.95kg.
The T Line weighs less than 10 kg and is light enough to be lifted with one hand. It is made from ultra-light titanium, which is as strong as steel, making it 37% lighter than BROMPTON’s previous all-steel frame, the C Line, while still maintaining its strength. It is strong enough to withstand various road impacts.
Lightweight, yet maintains the same strength as steel.
The T Line Urban consists of a new, ultra-lightweight titanium frame, which was created after three years of careful selection and rigorous testing by the development team. Only the folding mechanism has been carried over from previous models. All other technologies have been improved.
Compact drivetrain designed from scratch.
Designed from the ground up to fit inside the fold and to be as light as possible for optimum performance in the city. The carbon crankset allows for more power to be delivered, while the 60 gram derailleur delivers smooth shifting in a smaller package. New gear ratios have been tested from Amsterdam to San Francisco and are ideal for city streets.
The world’s first bike with a steel-exterior carbon seatpost
As a normal carbon seatpost is stiff, strong and lightweight, but cannot withstand the everyday use of a folding bike, BROMPTON’s design engineers developed a new process to reinforce the limits of carbon with a 0.3 mm steel exterior. The result is an ultralight seatpost that can withstand bending wear, loads of 110 kg and all-weather riding.
Attention to detail
Folds up faster and is easier to carry than its predecessor. New self-adjusting hinges, spring-loaded handlebar catch that clicks into place. Larger diameter rolling wheels with flowing movement and an easy-to-grip carbon saddle. No other BROMPTON, including this one, folds up like it does.
Really enjoy riding your bike.
BROMPTON has always made its owners smile through its folding bikes, but it has gone further in every respect. Carbon cranks and a cast Ti bottom bracket provide more power and a faster ride. Shock-absorbing titanium smoothes the road, while the one-piece carbon fork and wider carbon handlebars provide increased stiffness and even greater responsiveness. The improved performance makes it a true pleasure to ride.
